Their Building Is Thirty Years Old. Ours Is Nearly a Century

Orange Village is asking voters this November to support a bond for a new fire station and a renovated Village Hall. Their current building, dedicated in 1995, is just over thirty years old. Mayor Jud Kline put it plainly: “It is time.”

Our Village Hall was built in the 1920s, more than three times the age of the building Orange has already determined no longer serves its police, its firefighters, or its residents.

If thirty years is enough to outgrow a facility, what does a century say about ours? Mayor Kline noted the value of acting in 2026 dollars rather than waiting until 2028 dollars. The same arithmetic applies in Gates Mills, and the people who serve this village every day deserve the conversation now.
