I recently noticed that our natural gas price, provided by AGG NOPEC NEXTERA ENERGY SERVICES, had increased to $5.29 / MCF plus tax and distribution charges, provided by Enbridge. This is an increase from $4.15 / MCF in January.

Although energy prices go up and down, energy costs are relatively low compared to 2022, and Gates Mills residents can afford to heat their homes, it was interesting to learn there are 3 NOPEC plans available, some that might provide better value to users. After a call to NOPEC we changed from the Standard program plan that is based on wholesale purchase prices available in the market to the MONTHLY VARIABLE RATE, which is $.02 below the Enbridge price, presently at $3.3350 per Mcf. 855-667-3201

There also are many other NG suppliers available to Enbridge users that can be reviewed at the Natural Gas, Energy Choice Ohio website. There are many fixed and variable plans with competitive offers.

NOPEC and other NG suppliers can provide good value to customers, but it requires looking closely at the plans available.

I remember going through a process of selecting the right “supplier” and it was complex. There were many plans to choose from and it really forced you to look at a years worth of bills to make the correct selection. It was also different for every house, with SCO only being the right choice for my primary residence.

I tried looking for where the selection matrix was and can’t find it. Thinking about it, it may have actually been paper.

Anyone know if there is a link to the comparisons? I scoured Enbridge’s site and couldn’t find one.

Gas Cost 35.5 MCF @ $3.335 seems to be a good rate.
